Wizard101: Khrysalis and Shadow Magic

A new world to explore: Khrysalis! This is where Morganthe lurks… It can be seen as a dark swirl from a small island, a fragment of a broken world that has been lost to time, and it’s up to you to travel there, infiltrate Morganthe’s lair and shatter her plans once and for all! Apparently, the culmination of Morganthe’s story arc will be so epic that it has been divided into two parts! This update is only part 1, and the second half of our adventures in Khrysalis will come in early 2014. Don’t be fooled though — this update is huge, and even introduces a whole new form of magic… Shadow Magic!

According to the update notes, Shadow Magic is “an underlying, reality-defining and bending magic” that can be learned in a similar way to the Astral Schools. Once Khrysalis goes live, Shadow Magic can be learned from Sofia DarkSide who awaits you in the Eclipse Tower in Moon Cliffs, but you must complete the quest “Touching Shadow” and defeat her before she’ll let you in on her secrets!

Check out our in-depth post on Shadow Magic for more information on this dark and dangerous new magical art.

There will of course be new quests to complete and experience points to be earned, thus the max level cap will be raised to 95. Interestingly, your Wizard’s base mana will begin increasing slightly with each level as it did prior to the end of Dragonspyre. Looks like you’ll be needing that extra magic for the new challenges that await you in Khrysalis!

Other updates include more gardening ranks to achieve and thus new gardening spells to learn such as Itsy Bitsy Spider, Monsoon, Ant Lion and more.

In addition, check out the awesome new Castle Tours! Myrella WindSpar has set up shop in the Wizard City Commons to allow young Wizards to open their homes up so that other players can visit and rate Castles without having to teleport to someone in the house! Perhaps your house will reach the top of the leader board, or maybe you’ll just be able to have fun exploring and get some brilliant ideas from other proud home owners.
